Feel your Funk First, then Forge On

Are you feeling down in the dumps and don’t want to face the world? Do you feel bad about shutting everyone out? You don’t have to feel bad about it. It’s natural!
Feeling sad due to a negative event in your life is perfectly normal. You can’t force yourself to smile in a moment of grief. It will just make you look like Annabelle! And surely you don’t want to scare away the handful of people who are around.

What to Do When You’re Sad?

When you’re feeling down, avoiding the feeling won’t make it better. The solution is to let it out. Let yourself wallow in your grief. Feel the emotions and let them take over you.

Cry if you want to cry, unless you’re wearing a Dior mascara! In that case, wipe off that mascara and let the tears flow. Are you angry? Let out the anger. Use a punching bag. The point is, allow yourself to feel the emotions you’re actually feeling, instead of hiding them or pushing them away. The sooner you let out your pent-up emotions, the sooner you’ll feel better.

Get Back Right Up

Are you done crying? Good! Now it’s time to get right back up and move on. Once all your emotions have been let out, it’s easier to see clearly and follow your dreams. You can’t wallow in misery forever. You have to silence your inner critic and think rationally. Life has many ups and downs and we can’t escape it. All we can do is to dust ourselves off and move on in pursuit of something better.
